About City Kid Camp
At City Kid Camps we bring the knowledge of youth development and combine it with games, sports, the history of our city and the importance of our natural environment and let kids do what they do best – play – while safely guiding them through new locations and activities. The program is geared to 8-12 year olds and is almost entirely outdoors, with meeting grounds in Golden Gate Park everyday. The program relies on a variety of sports, group games, and free explore times to give campers a unique, custom-tailored experience while relying on MUNI and walking as our modes of transportation.
Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic coordinator to act as the direct assistant to the camp director. The Coordinator can operate the program independently and confidently. This means handling parent interactions, delegating tasks to other counselors and youth counselors, facilitating large group games, ensuring physical and emotional safety of every camper, employing restorative circles and peer-to-peer restorative moments, communicate effectively with families, staff, and campers, and punctually navigate the group throughout the day’s field trip.
Job Duties
70% Group Facilitation and Supervision

Guide a group of up to 20-25 children and 2-4 staff/volunteers through the day’s field trip, navigating Golden Gate Park, Muni, and SF city streets safely and on time

Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of each camper by creating group behavioral expectations and employing accountability measures throughout the day

Safely and enthusiastically lead outdoor recreational activities, including sports, crafts, and creative games with groups as large as 20-30 children, typically aged 8-12yo.

Lead smaller restorative circles for conflicts

Facilitate larger group conversations to instill character value topics (honesty, respect, sportsmanship) into the games and activities played
15% Staff Communication and leadership

Coordinator will have a team of up to five counselors, youth counselors, helpers, and volunteers to delegate and direct to best ensure the safety, supervision, and fun levels of every camper
15% Parent Engagement

Handle sign in/out duties, engaging genuinely and charismatically with parents and families each morning and afternoon

Inform families promptly of any issues between with their campers and keeps parents informed about any injuries or accidents
Required Qualifications
The Coordinator has 3+ years experience working with youth specifically in an recreational, outdoor setting.
Ability to enthusiastically lead large groups.
A strong passion for outdoor recreation and sports
Knowledge of or interest in the history, sites, and exploration of San Francisco and the SF Bay Area
Has a vehicle and is prompt, timely, professional, and does not bring/use drugs or alcohol to the program
Preferred Qualifications
Confident in making quick decisions
Strong communication skills with people of all ages including youth, teenagers and parents
Comfortable guiding youth through restorative circles and exercises as primary behavioral management tool
Ability to instill character values in children through games, sports, group activities and outdoor play
Experience working with/in an organization with Child Abuse Prevention Protocols
Special Conditions of Employment
Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
Must possess CPR/First Aid/AED certification or have the ability to obtain it within 60-calendar days of hire. Must possess a valid license to drive in the state of California.
